Britains’ own Skateboarding and fashion icon Blondey Mccoy has been working with Adidas to create a new take on the Superstar 80’s silhouette and have just released the new “Blondey” Superstar. Adidas Skateboarding dropped their first take on the iconic Adidas Superstar shoes back in the early ’90s. Built on the bones of that original model, this version is designed by pro rider Blondey McCoy and features a clear synthetic upper set atop a supportive cup sole.
When Blondey was told that he was being given the opportunity to design a colorway of the superstar, two questions sprung to his mind –
First, the classic ‘what have I done to deserve this?’ “(I find myself asking this on a daily basis, for one reason or another). Then, the less frequently asked question ‘why meddle with a masterpiece?’ and how to.”
“I knew that I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done to the shoe in its quinquagenarian existence, without fundamentally changing its DNA. It had to be vegan, it had to be durable, and it had to strike the right balance of both fashion and function so that it would also exist outside of the world of skateboarding.
Why limit yourself to one world?
The goal is of course to create your own.”
